Rootzone Material

Hutcheson Sand & Mixes has the ability to provide a full range of Rootzone mixes. Custom rootzone mixes can be produced to meet all sorts of different requirements. Whether it is USGA, California or a modified version of these specifications, we have the expertise to produce it. Hutcheson rootzones allow for: uniform playing surfaces; immediate play after rainfall; excellent surface resiliency; a non-compacting surface; a surface that can be watered quickly; adequate moisture and nutrient reserves during stress to minimize the chance of mismanagement; uniform turfgrass cover; active points for new growth and extensive root systems.

Rootzone should allow for the following properties:

• A uniform putting surface
• Be able to play immediately after a rainfall
• Have resiliency so that the ball "holds"
• Have a non-compacting surface
• A surface that can be watered quickly (non puddling)
• Maintain adequate moisture and nutrient reserves during stress to minimize the chances of mismanagement
• Produce and maintain uniform cover, produce active points for new growth and allow extensive root systems.

Hutcheson Sand is:

1. Non calcareous - chemically balanced
2. Sub angular to sub-rounded
3. Washed, classified
4. Slightly acidic pH
